William's first person narration reveals his attraction to the dominating directress of the girls' school where he teaches, played out in the school's 'secret garden'. Skrivet med Charlotte Brontës vanliga underbara språk som fångar en och håller en kvar. Den är då trots allt ändå lite utdragen och det var ju tur att den inte var längre, hon kunde knappast få in mer i historien än så utan att det skulle blivit väldigt konstigt.
Den är bra, men blir ingen favorit. Den är inte i närheten så bra som Jane Eyre.Men den är helt klart läsvärd.
